More about Spyglass 1708 & Rosella Cottage

Spyglass 1708

Spyglass 1708 is a stylish and fully renovated Grade II-listed, two-bedroom luxury holiday home in central Whitby.

With the added bonus of fabulous Abbey and harbour views, big lounge, new kitchen-diner, lovely family bathroom with 2nd WC, and a laundry annex.

Offering flexible sleeping for family holidays or for couples sharing; Spyglass 1708 provides the perfect blend of luxury, practicality, and location; with accommodation for four to six guests.

Built Anno Dom 1708 for the family of a wealthy Gentleman Quaker Ship Owner - Spyglass has been completely refurbished throughout in 2015 by interior-design experts from Rachel McClane Ltd.

Rachel and her team have created a luxury boutique-hotel feel with all of the additional benefits of self-catering.

And it is all within a few moments strolling from the Abbey, 199-steps, dock-end harbor, Swing-bridge, sandy beach, Pannett Park with Gallery & Museum, Captain Cooks’ Museum, and the historic Old Town.

The Magpie Café, Marine, Harry’s Bar, Greene’s Restaurant, RomeroJo’s, Trenchers’ and dozens of other eating places, famous fish ‘n chip establishments, pubs, shopping, and nightclubs are also within a short stroll.

Rosella Cottage

Rosella Cottage, built Circa 1850, is a comfortable and luxurious one-bedroom traditional Yorkshire stone cottage located right in the heart of Rosedale Abbey’s conservation area and just around the corner from the village green, two cafes, three village pubs and the Gilles-Jones Glass workshops and Studio; with the added benefit of self-catering.

Rosella Cottage is ideally suited for active couples or small families with younger children who are looking for a contemporary luxury holiday home in the heart of the North York Moors National Park.

Inside, the cottage comes with a compact country kitchen for basic cooking; a comfortable sitting room, spacious bedroom with king-sized bed, vaulted ceiling and exposed beams; and a nice-sized modern bathroom with monsoon walk-in shower. There is also a laundry annex with washer-dryer and a small SW-facing patio for sunbathing or al-fresco coffee.
