Fish and Ships festival – an exciting new event is coming to town

Celebrate the amazing maritime history of the Yorkshire coast with us at our brand new Fish and Ships festival.

What’s on?

You can see celebrity chefs perform live cooking demonstrations supported by our local fishing heroes. There will be a wide range of exciting street theatre and musical performances too. Talks, film screenings and exhibitions happening all around town for you to enjoy. You can even complete a fantastic trail of sculptures made by local sculptor Emma Stothard.

Get involved in competitions with the Whitby Rowing Club and the Whitby Angling Club. Children can also compete in a ship or fish building Lego competition. Kids might also want to sign up for an animation workshop run by none other than Wallace and Gromit’s animator, Virpi Kettu.

Learn from our local fishermen how to fillet a fish and dress a crab, enjoy our delicious seafood, treat yourself at the craft stalls and even take a trip on the North Eastern Guardian Fisheries protection vessel.

Why not make a whole weekend of it and book a stay with one of our fabulous accommodation providers? Check them out.
