1. Spooky Half Term @ Whitby Abbey

Plenty of frightening fun abound. Head out on a Halloween challenge trail. Keep your eyes well peeled for creepy things whilst following clues around the Abbey. The Undertaker will teach the gruesome truth about life expectancy in Victorian England.

2. Ghostly Treasure Hunt @ North York Moors National Park Centre

Discover some of the National Park’s scary folklore as you scour the grounds to find the ‘ghosts’ and discover the answers along the trail and claim the treasure. For further information, visit:


3. Halloween Crafts @ North York Moors National Park Centre

4. Illuminated Abbey

Bram Stoker’s inspiration will be seen in a completely new light as Whitby Abbey comes under a lovely illumination of rainbow colours, being lit every evening during the whole of a week. A real “spooktacular” sight to see! Watch out for the Count and see Dracula’s story brought to life within the glowing Abbey ruins. See the Victorian Undertaker and meet the Resurrection Man who will tell a few spine-chilling, grave-robbing tales.

5. Whitby Goth Weekend

This biannual celebration of unusual and wonderful sights has become a firm favourite on Whitby’s social calendar. The main headline events are held at Whitby Pavilion, including the Bizarre Bazaar Goth Market which sells all things Gothic – clothing, jewellery, music and art. Also during the weekend lots of local hotels and pubs are hosts to great additional live music performances. Parading around the town during the festivities you’ll see Goths, Punks, Steampunks and Bikers wearing the most unique and amazing costumes – a vision which creates a really great atmosphere – and a weekend for people of all ages to enjoy.
