More about North Yorkshire Moors Railway
Travel back in time on a steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Trains run throughout the day from March to October with Winter services on certain days from November to February.
Visit www.nymr.co.uk for the full timetable.
Enjoy 18 miles of some of the most stunning scenery in the country as your journey takes you through the exhilarating North York Moors National Park.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway links Grosmont, Goathland, Newtondale Halt, Levisham and Pickering. We also run many services back and forth from Whitby on the east coast.
This railway is a great family attraction with period stations, tearooms, shops and plenty of car parking and toilets along its route. Dogs are welcome. All trains cater for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Check the website for many special events running throughout the year. Levisham Station even has an 'Artist in Residence'. Visit the engine sheds where you can see locomotives being restored in preparation for steam at Grosmont. Stop off at Goathland, the village called 'Hogsmeade' in the first of the Harry Potter films and also known to many as 'Aidensfield' in TV's Heartbeat.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is an all-weather attraction which recreates history with every train ride. Many visitors return time and time again, taking in the nearby cycle rides and walks, exploring the stations, or visiting Whitby and Pickering. Check out the luxury dining trains with authentic Pullman coaches, period saloon coaches (offered for corporate and private functions), and enjoy the footplate experience days.
You'll also find great self-catering accommodation at either the cottage at Grosmont Station, or within the unique Camping Coaches.
