The Shire House really is something special - an amazing cosy ‘Tolkein’ style rotunda house where youngsters and adults alike will be thrilled to stay in this grass roofed Hobbit House which is decorated to a high standard with quirky, unusual and exclusive touches and sleeps up to 6 people: (2 adults & 4 children and vice-versa). Walk up the path through the picket-fenced cottage garden, enjoying an array of colourful flowers (in spring and summer). Step through the round wooden door and enter into a plush Regency inspired lounge to see its wooden beamed ceiling, terracotta floor and French style wall lights. The large dining table encompassing plenty of seating is placed near to the cosy fire. After a hard day’s walking enjoy a soak in the luxurious roll-top bath. In the open plan kitchen, behold the welcome sight of a bountiful hamper (which includes all the ingredients for one or even two delicious ‘Full English’ breakfasts). All bedrooms have cabin beds with comfy, exclusively-made mattresses.
Story Book Cottage – A magical hideaway! Book this characterful cottage to enjoy a middle-earth story-book experience! Formerly an old barn, located amidst a tranquil setting within open moorland, offering wonderful rural views and glimpses of the sea, this lovely cottage has been lovingly converted into cosy and relaxing family accommodation. The cottage comprises a compact galley-style kitchen, traditionally styled dining room with comfy seating and in the lounge there’s an electric wood-burner effect stove and cosy couches, offering a warm welcome all year round. Tread the ‘Story Book Staircase’ (stairs themed as book spines) to gain access to all three comfy bedrooms which have excellent en suite facilities.

There’s a wealth of activities around for all the family to enjoy. On the Farm look out for the peacocks, friendly farm cats, cockerel and chickens.
The historic coastal resort of Whitby is only a 15 minutes’ drive, known world-wide for its famous Abbey, 199 steps, blue flag beaches, jet jewellery shops, galleries, cobbled Market Place, bustling harbour, its famous fish & chips (not to mention the ice cream!). The pretty village of Danby is only 6 miles away and the North York Moors landscape is a walker’s haven, holding a network of footpaths close by to explore. The pretty coastal and moorland villages are simply delightful. Visit Goathland (home to TV’s “Heartbeat” and the bewitching Hogsmeade Station (Hogwarts Express stop in ‘Harry Potter’). Take an exhilarating trip over breath-taking countryside on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway.
